The Spiritual Realm Part 2

Most of modern science disregards anything that exists in the spiritual realm. The existing secular scientific world view today holds that only the physical world is relevant. God if He exists at all plays no role in the day by day govern of the universe. Many scientist are in agreement that the material world is all there is, and that the spiritual realm either does not exist or has no relevance to the physical world of science in which we live. These views are completely different in comparison to the Biblical world-view.

According to the Bible, there are two levels of creation: one physical and one spiritual. One can say that the physical world is only half of Elohim’s creation. The other half is the “invisible” spirit world, which is more significant and permanent than the physical world. In many ways the physical world is a world of shadows like the Torah, which is only a shadow of good things to come (Hebrews 10:1).

The two realms---the material and the spiritual---were “tightly coupled” before the fall and though there is still coupling between these two realms it is less than it was in former times. Active evil is present in both realms and the physical world has been, is now, and will be, affected by happenings in the spiritual world, and vice versa. Although we may not see the causes, the effects will be there.

The amazing fact which the Scriptures clearly declare in Genesis is that life, and the five principles of Thermal Dynamics (Time, Force, Energy, Space, and Matter) all came into the physical world from the unseen spiritual world as the source, even though we do not know how to formulate scientific laws to describe the interactions between these two realms.

So, not only did Elohim design the universe, but by His “word” He constructed it in detail over a period of time and then set it all in motion. Without the sustaining power of His “word” the very atoms that hold the universe together would come apart and the universe with all life would cease to exist (Hebrews 1:1-4).

The Spirit and the Spirit World

Despite what scientist proclaim regarding the spiritual realm, today, a large population of the world is increasingly moving toward a greater awareness of the spiritual world. In these last days, mankind all around the world, especially in the Western Hemisphere, is quickly being flooded with Eastern religions and ideas which all center on contact with the spirit world. The New Age movement has been growing at a very fast rate bringing in false teachings in relation to the human spirit and the spirit world. Not just the New Agers’ but also the satanic worshiping cults and religions.

If we are to combat these false doctrines (fiery arrows), and the forces of evil in the kingdom of darkness, the believer needs to have a good scriptural understanding of the human spirit and the spirit world. The Apostle Paul is a great example of a spiritual warrior who had much understanding on this matter. He understood the configuration of the human body and the connection that our bodies have between the physical realm and the spiritual realm.

1st Thessalonians 5:23 (NASB)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul teaches us here that we humans are “tripartite” beings. That is, we have three separate parts; the body, which is our flesh, the spirit, which is our intellect, and the soul, which is our emotions, will, and where our 5 senses reside (touch, taste, smell, hear, and sight). He plainly states that Elohim Himself sanctifies us entirely and that all 3 must be preserved complete, without blame at Yahshua’s return.

Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

That is, “Adam lived, and became aware of him self.” In essence our “self” is our soul, which manifests as our will and our emotions, together with the spirit, which is our intellect, reside inside our body, which is nothing more than an outside shell existing in a material dimension, all three combined together to make up one individual (self) person.

1st Corinthians 15:44 (KJV)
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

This is a much overlooked verse. Our spirits have a form or shape (body) corresponding to our physical bodies. Our spirit “body” is not the same as that of an angelic spirit body. Few people other than the Satanists, or those involved in such things as astral projection, realize that our spirit has a body like form.

2nd Corinthians 12:2-4 (NASB)
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago-- whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- such a man was caught up to the third heaven. And I know how such a man-- whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows-- was caught up into Paradise, and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.

Revelation 4:1-2 (NASB)
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.” Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.

These scriptures and others show an experience perceived in the person’s spirit, and that the spirit was separated from the physical body. In the occult this is known as Astral Projection (more on astral projection later in the study).

NOTE:
The human spirit will always appear in the scriptures written with a small “s” and when referring to the Holy Spirit it is written with a capital “S” (Revelation 1:10).

Adam, before the fall, could relate to, and see the spirit world as easily as he could see the physical world. This is demonstrated by the ease with which he could walk and talk with Elohim in the Garden of Eden (Genesis chapters 2-3). Adam’s spirit did not separate from his body in order to see into the spirit world. Adam’s spirit was alive to Elohim - meaning that it was tightly united, linked, with the Holy Spirit and the spirit realm. But, at the fall, spiritual death took place – that is, Adam was no longer in unity, linked, with the Spirit of Elohim and the spirit realm, and thus could not commune with or see Elohim as he had done before. Because of this (sin) all that are born after Adam are spiritually dead, and are outcasts from the spirit realm. Yahshua came to redeem (link) our spirits back into the spirit world thru His death on the cross.

As the Holy Spirit comes in at rebirth (John 3:1-10) when we accept Yahshua as our savior our spirit is re-born, or rejuvenated so that we can commune with and worship Elohim, but not to the same extent as Adam’s did before the fall. The fact that it is thru our spirit that we commune with Elohim (with the help of the Holy Spirit) is clearly demonstrated in John 4:23-24.

John 4:23-24 (NIV)
But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Only a spirit can commune in the spirit world. Our spirits are the “link” between us and the spirit world because the spirit world cannot be seen or measured with anything physical. It is difficult to comprehend this concept because we are used to experiencing only the see- touch-and-feel physical world. Therefore, because of this we have to learn how to tap into our spirits in order to communicate with Elohim, to hear when Elohim speaks to us, and to use the ability of discernment. All this is done by means of the Holy Spirit and not of our selves.

Although our spirits are alive again this link is activated only when Elohim chooses. For instance, He uses it to give us understanding of the scriptures, to make our hearts aware of His presence, to communicate with us, and to give us discernment. When an individual experiences spiritual rebirth their spirit takes control of the body and of the soul. Before spiritual rebirth the soul is the one in control of the body and of the spirit. Therefore, when the soul is the one in control the individual is taken over by the need to satisfy the 5 senses and easily gives in to the desires of the flesh (sinful desires). Our body, soul, and spirit must be under the total mastership of Yahshua ha Moshiac.

The Fire of the Holy Spirit

When an individual experiences re-birth of the spirit, aside from his sins being washed away by the blood of Yahshua, his spirit is baptized with the Holy Spirit or baptized with fire. In other words, the fire of the Holy Spirit is placed in the spirit of that individual by Elohim; this is the same fire that indwelt Adam at the time of his creation. Elohim is known as the fire starter in ancient Hebrew.  This is also the same fire that rested and filled the people on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). This fire that indwells us at re-birth is recognized, and can be seen literally in the spirit world by the enemy, and by the angels of Elohim. This is the seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30), the light of life (John 8:12).

Light (G5457) phws: Fire, firelight, light, lights.

This is how the enemy distinguishes between a believer and a non believer by the presence of this fire or light in an individual’s spirit. Yahshua said “we are the light of this world” and “let your light shine before men” (Matthew 5:14, 16; 6:22-23). Paul said: we are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness (Romans 2:19). This light is the same radiance that was seen by the Israelites in the face of Moses (Exodus 34:29), the same light that emitted from Yashua at the mountain (Matthew 17:2; Luke 9:29), and the same light that radiates from the angelic beings (Acts 12:7). Although it is not visible in us in the physical world, it is definitely visible in the spirit world. Believers are like walking light bulbs in the spirit realm. A non believer’s spirit is absence of this light therefore their spirits are seen dark in the spirit world and their spirits cannot commune with Elohim. Our spirits have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

Acts 26:18 (NASB)
To open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.

Ephesians 5:8 (NASB)
For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.

Luke 11:34-36 (NASB)
The lamp of your body is your eye; when your eye is clear your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Then watch out that the light in you may not be darkness. If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it shall be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.

2nd Corinthians 4:6-7 (NASB)
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves;

2nd Corinthians 6:14 (NASB)
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?

1st Thessalonians 5:5 (NASB)
For you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night, nor of darkness;

When a believer is walking in the righteous path, reading and studying the word every day, in prayer, being obedient and abstaining from sin, producing the fruit of the Spirit, etc; this light in their spirit will shine brightly. When a believer is not walking in the righteous path but is doing the complete opposite, being disobedient, indulging in worldly things, and goes for weeks (months) without reading the word (feeding his spirit) this light becomes weak or dim.  An example of this would be a flashlight with charged batteries compared to a flashlight with weak batteries. We can not have the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives without having the fire of the Holy Spirit shining brightly.

When this weak, dim, light is seen by the enemy in the spirit world the individuals become prime targets for attacks. Why? Because, the enemy is not affected by the light (fire) emitted by the spirit of the individual, the enemy recognizes that this is a weak Christian and mounts a full scale spiritual attack. A certain scripture comes to mind: Be self-controlled and alert (watchful). Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1st Peter 5:8). The enemy searches around in the spirit world, not the physical world, to see whose light is weak among the Christians, finds its target, then attacks. This is how a spiritual attack is done:

Demons forge a link between the soul and spirit of an individual, this is called demonic oppression. They will do this to a weak Christian and to a non believer as well. That is how they can use a non believer as a weapon to attack a believer in the physical world. When a non believer is involved in the occult, for example, the demon has the right to indwell their bodies, in other words they have the right to posses that individual. [more on possession later]

1 John 1:5-7 (NASB)
And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

When a believer shines a strong bright light in their spirit, the enemy will recognize that individual as a strong Christian and cannot forge a link between the spirit and soul. Why? Because, the radiance of the light (fire) will affect the demons, in essence they will literally stay away from it. Since the enemy can not attack that individual [cause him/her to sin through the spirit world] because of the strong light that is present, he will then change his strategy or tactic and attack that person in the physical world. He will use a non believer, or sometimes he will even use a weak Christian, to attack that strong spirited individual. The enemy will use flesh and blood to push the right buttons (Ephesians 6:12) to cause that person to sin and lower his defenses. His focus is to attack the believer in the physical world in order to put out that strong bright light that it may become weak and dim so that they can forge a link between the spirit and the soul. They do what ever it takes to keep you from feeding that light so that it may go dim. They will keep you from bible studies, church, reading and studying the word, prayer, fasting, witnessing, etc. They will use what ever and whom ever to accomplish their objective, including unsaved family members.

Another tactic, or should I say, the main strategy that Satan uses to keep believers light from shinning bright is the use of false doctrines and false teachings among the Christian religion. Churches that teach falsely the word of Elohim (watered down) or the “feel good” preaching are designed that way by Satan to keep the light weak (dim) among these Christians, this way they can attack the believers’ spirit and keep them from ever reaching their full potential in the faith (1st Timothy 6:3-5; Ephesians 5:6). Satan knows that by keeping Christians in sin and by keeping them from knowing the true power of the scriptures in its purest form they will be of no threat to the kingdom of darkness. Christians will have no power and authority over the enemy.

The deeds of the flesh: Envy, jealousy, anger, hatred, fits of rage, un-forgiveness, lust, pornography, orgies, sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, drunkenness, idolatry and witchcraft. Participation in any or all of these unfruitful deeds of darkness will allow darkness to enter the spirit, weakening the light and allowing demons to forge a link between the spirit and the soul (Romans 1:28; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 4:31, 5:11; Colossians 3:8; James 1:20-22).

Romans 13:12-14
Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

Ephesians 5:9 (NASB)
For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth.

NOTE: This fire or light in our spirits works in relation to the Armor of Elohim. [More on The Armor of Elohim later in the study]
